The standards behind every hair color guide, haircut breakdown, and hairstyle pick on ChromaMane written with care for real hair in real life.
Hi, I’m Elaina Cook, founder and chief editor of ChromaMane.
After years of walking out of salons with hair that looked nothing like the studio-lit Pinterest photos I saved, I built this site to be the honest hair resource I always wished existed. Transparent, thoroughly researched, and made for women living real lives. Realistic maintenance, hair health, and authentic beauty aren’t an afterthought here they are the whole point.
Everything you read on ChromaMane follows the standards below. If an article doesn’t meet them, it doesn’t get published. That is my personal promise to every reader who lands here.
Who ChromaMane Is For
ChromaMane is written for women who love hair inspiration but are tired of advice that relies on heavy filters, ring lights, or forty minutes of daily heat styling. Every hair color idea, haircut recommendation, and styling tip goes through one question first: would this actually work on real hair, in real lighting, for a real person’s daily routine? If we can’t say yes, it doesn’t make it onto the site.
How We Choose What to Cover
Trends on ChromaMane aren’t randomly guessed. Before we feature a shade as a “trending hair color” or call a haircut a “must-try look,” we analyze what’s actually happening—in top salons, runway releases, search trends, and real hair community saves.
If a viral hair trend requires extreme damage, frequent salon touch-ups, or doesn’t suit various hair densities and textures, we say so plainly. We won’t pretend a high-maintenance color or cut is “effortless” when it isn’t.
Our content spans five core collections:
- Hair Colors: Balayage, copper tones, brunette dimension, vivids, and root blends.
- Braids & Weaves: Protective styles, knotless braids, sew-ins, and scalp care.
- Haircuts & Bangs: Face-shape guides, curtain bangs, wolf cuts, and textured layers.
- Everyday Hairstyles: 5-minute styles, heatless waves, and second-day hair fixes.
- Occasion & Holiday: Updos, festive braids, and special occasion glam.
Editorial Independence
Our recommendations belong to us alone. Brands cannot pay for a guaranteed spot in a roundup, a trend report, or a hairstyle styling guide.
When a brand sends us a hair care product, styling tool, or extension sample to try, or when we use an affiliate link, we disclose it clearly. No relationship—whether gifted or affiliate changes how we evaluate a style or product. If something fails to perform or damages hair, we report it honestly.
Affiliate Links and Sponsored Content
ChromaMane uses affiliate links. When you shop through some of our links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These small earnings help keep this site running independently so we can keep creating free, quality guides.
Affiliate status never determines whether a product or tool is featured. A product earns its spot because it works, not because it pays.
On the rare occasion we publish a sponsored post, it is clearly labeled as “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership” at the very top of the page. Our editorial standards apply equally to sponsored posts: if we don’t believe in the product or brand, we don’t work with them.
Sourcing & Fact Checking
When we cite hair health studies, quote professional colorists, or reference industry reports, we link directly to the original source. We never present someone else’s research, styling tutorials, or writing as our own. Photos are either original, licensed, shared with permission from brand press assets, or properly credited.
Accuracy and Corrections
We work hard to get every detail right—from exact hair color formulation names to maintenance timelines. If a mistake happens, we fix it promptly. Corrections are updated directly in the article with a dated note explaining what was changed.
If you spot something that needs correction, please email us at contact@chromamane.com. We review all flagged corrections within 48 hours.
We also revisit older articles regularly to ensure styling tips, product recommendations, and color trends remain accurate. If advice becomes outdated, we update or archive it.
Our Stance on AI
Every article on ChromaMane is researched, written, edited, and reviewed by real human hands led by me, Elaina Cook.
We may occasionally use AI tools to help structure long-form guides or generate conceptual visual inspiration for upcoming hair trends. However, no article is published without human editing, fact-checking, and professional judgment behind it. AI never makes editorial decisions on ChromaMane.
Images on ChromaMane
We use a blend of original photographs, licensed stock photography, official press imagery, and conceptual AI-generated visuals for style inspiration. Conceptual visuals are only used to illustrate hair ideas or mood boards—never to misrepresent a real product or person.
